- What? Crossmate is a collaborative crossword app for iPhone and iPad. It supports importing Across Lite and XD files.
- Why? Multiplayer crosswords should exist and they should be delivered in the slickest looking crossword app you've ever seen.

How does collaboration work…
Crossmate uses iCloud to sync shared game state. Play across your iPhone and iPad without needing a separate account (or giving me your personal information). Invite a friend with an iCloud account to a puzzle and fill the grid together. No need to pass screenshots back and forth.
What kind of files…
Across Lite and XD are file formats that are often used by crossword makers. Drop these files in the folder Crossmate creates in your iCloud Drive and you're good to go.
How much did you rely on coding agents…
Almost entirely. I directed coding agents in the production of the code with the goal of avoiding A.I. slop. You can judge for yourself how well I did. Crossmate is open source software and the repository is available here.
